BOOSTER PARENT REPS & BOOSTER CREW

Booster Parent Reps and Booster Crew members are parent volunteers that have agreed to be the promoter of a club, activity, or team to the Booster Club.

You already are emotionally and physically involved in your student's activities.  We are just asking for you to pass along scores, highlights, big events to our social media volunteers.

  • The Booster Parent Rep is the main contact person between the Booster Club and the corresponding club, activity, or team.  They are invited to join the monthly Booster Club meeting to share information and highlights about what is happening.
  • The Booster Parent Rep or Booster Crew member also forwards game, tournament, match highlights to the Communications chair at communications.ihsboosters@gmail.com to be featured on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages along with our weekly “Booster Buzz” news that goes to all members.
  • The Booster Parent Rep assists with fundraising and grant requests for their club, activity, or sport.

Role of a Booster Crew Member:  (easy and does not take a lot of time)

  • Liaison:  The Booster Crew volunteer is a team/club/activity parent that acts as a representative of the Booster Club for your team/club/or activity's parents.   Ideally, for Boosters to be most effective, every team/club/activity should have a Booster Crew parent volunteer. The Booster Crew volunteer's primary role is to be helpful and supportive.  The Crew will help to highlight Eagle Pride by communicating out the great wins and accomplishments to the Booster Club, for its weekly Booster Buzz emails and Facebook Page
    • If there is not a Booster Parent Rep for said activity, then the Booster Crew will assist the Advisor / Coach(es) with any possible funding needs.    Possible Grant Requests: The Booster Crew volunteer will reach out to the coach, advisor right away to see if they have any possible funding needs that the Booster Club can help with.  Concerning sports teams, ideally, this would happen before the season starts.   Website resources: Historical funding per activity.  Funding Request Guidelines, FAQ’s including the difference between ASB and Boosters.  Please note all Funds Requests start with ASB.
    • Most submissions are made by the Booster Crew volunteers but may be made by anyone
  • Grant requests: The Booster Parent Rep will reach out to the coach or advisor right away to see if they have any possible funding needs that the Booster Club can help with.  Concerning sports teams, ideally, this would happen before the season starts.
    • Historical funding per sport, club, or activity is listed on the Booster website.
    • See the Grant Request tab for more info and how to apply.
  • Communicator: Reach out to the parents of your group and let them know how Boosters has helped their sport, club, activity in the past, as well as how it supports all outside of the classroom IHS activities - everything from DECA, to Jr Statesmen of America, Senior Scholarships to every sport.   99.9% of the students at IHS participate in some activity outside the classroom so supporting the Boosters support all students at IHS.

    • The Booster Parent Rep or Crew member will be provided with an editable cut-n-paste parent email list, as well as the list of families that indicated their student was interested or would be participating in said activity.
  • Monthly Booster Club meetings:  Booster Parent Reps & Crew are invited to attend the monthly Booster Club meetings, the 2nd Tuesday of the month to give updates on their program.  President of Booster Club, Jen Kodosky, is happy to forward a report if you are not able to attend. The Presiden is your contact and a valuable resource if there are any funding needs for the program.
  • Another Eagle is Going to State:  signs are the personalized congratulations and good luck signs placed in the yards of Issaquah students participating in a State competition. The Booster Club relies on its Booster Crew parents to let us know when a team may be heading to the State competition.  The Booster Club needs to know the number of signs needs, the names of athletes attending, and the dates of the competition.  The Booster Club buys, prepares, and organizes the signs for distribution but relies on team parents to help place the signs in yards.  The Booster Chair and contact for this program is Keri Kiefer.
  • Facebook/Twitter/Snapchat/Website: The Booster Club members love seeing pictures and hearing about their IHS students.  This is the best thing you can do to show our school what is happening with your activity.  Booster Club relies on you to know what is going on. Pass along big wins/points of pride/pictures to the Communications Chair.  This will ensure that your information is seen in all Booster Club channels.
  • Weekly Booster Buzz emails go out to the entire membership, highlighting team/program points of pride and memorable moments.   We rely on the Booster Crew to forward updates on their activities.
Basic guidelines for Booster Buzz (weekly member email):
    • Booster Membership Chair will consider any submission from extra-curricular (outside the classroom) activities, sports, and clubs at Issaquah High School for the weekly Booster Buzz email.
    • Booster Buzz emails go out only 1x/week, on Sunday.  Prefer to get all submissions by Saturday.  DEADLINE 8 am Sunday morning.  A reminder email for submissions will go out on Fridays.
      • What to Include:  all important to know what you are reporting
        • Sport/Club/Activity - ex.) Girls Soccer - Varsity; Robotics
        • Date, Location & Opponent of Most Recent Game/Event & Score:  example: Mon 9/10, IHS beat Mt Si, score 4-2
        • Date/Location/Opponent of Next Game/Event: example: Mon 9/10, IHS, vs Mt Si, score 4-2
        • Significant Highlights optional -  2-3 sentences max per team: include first and last names of players if applicable. Buzz is meant to be a snapshot.  Include links to anything in the news, or your website if you want to showcase further details.
        • Pictures:  for Facebook
        • Other (optional):
    • Booster Buzz editor has the right and responsibility to edit (shorten) the materials to best fit the voice of the Booster Buzz email. This is not meant to be paragraphs, but quick bullet-point updates.  Student's full names are always appreciated.
    • The Booster Buzz is a culmination of information from parent volunteers doing their best to pass along updates and an editor interpreting those updates.   This is a volunteer effort to be gracious, as mistakes will happen.
